The spaces in which we as humans live and work determine our daily mindset and our mood; these spaces can impact our physical responses to our environment. The most common ailment many people experience is eye strain in offices, as the lighting is usually too bright, too low, or too inconsistent in the space.
Mask. strives to create spaces that create comfort – a principle that continues through to the retail element of the Studio. Homeware, décor, plants; even snacks and beverages that evoke a sense of delight are all included under the umbrella of “things that create comfort”.
With experience and formal training in both interior design and lighting-engineering means we have an aptitude for solving those tricky projects where you don’t quite know how. We are also efficient at specifying detailed luminaire schedules as well as quotes, and our attention to detail means that stock will be checked, and if needed, tested before delivery to your site to ensure a smooth process.
WHAT DO YOU DO, EXACTLY?
Mask. Design can do creative and technical design for lighting –
Creative design is more traditional, with pencils and paper and helping the client understand why there needs to be a light there, should there be a light there?
Technical design is utilising software and creating digital 3D models and visualisations of light distribution, so you can see where you need more, or where you need less light.
We offer technical consultation with other specialists (e.g. automation) to ensure compatibilty
and we can provide documentation that your project might require –
Drawings for lighting & switching plans
Visual presentation of luminaires specified
Luminaire specification sheets with technical and physical details
Samples for practical approval on-site
Reports for SANS/OHSA regulation required spaces
Energy Audit reports
and we can supply you with a quote for the lighting in your project, at very competitive prices, including

FAQS
ARE YOU VAT REGISTERED?
Yes, we are. All quotes and invoices will show 15% VAT. Please send us an email with your company information, showing regulatory requirements like address & VAT number, and we’ll gladly assist with compliant tax invoices.
DO YOU OFFER DELIVERY?
For large projects, the delivery costs will be stipulated on the lighting schedule and quote for approval. If your delivery address is within 30 km of our office, and the parcel is a manageable size, we will gladly deliver to you for free. Most oversized items and very heavy items will be delivered with a courier or a 3rd party logistics service. Any orders are welcome to be collected if this is easier for you.
Why don't you have a catalogue I can look at?
Mask. Design can source light fittings from over 30 suppliers, both local and international, who each have up to 2000 products in their lines; not to mention all the items we can custom-make. It’s impossible to keep a catalogue updated and accurate with so much to choose from. WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?
If any of the lighting products are damaged or defective, we will gladly replace them for you, provided the warranty conditions are met. For more details, please see our TERMS & CONDITIONS.
